2017 was the 60th anniversary of UBC Aqua Society scuba diving club establishment. I was lucky enough to be on board as the Internet Coordinator of the club. The manager of UBC Aqua Society Brendan Andresen tasked me with designing a custom logo to reflect this achievement and creating a short video "60 years of diving" with a bunch of old Aquasoc pictures.
I was learning Adobe Illustrator for my computer engineering studio at that time and glad to put this skill into use. Here are some of the designs I came up with. We went for the third version.
Brendan dug up some awesome archives in the shop, from an AMS Minutes from Oct 1957 accepting Aquasoc as a club, vintage scuba diving gears, hand-drawn dive trip posters, dive logs from the 60s written with a typewriter, to all the club dive photos. I want to bring back the feeling of nostalgia and highlight the rich history of pacific northwest scuba diving. It took me a while to put all these together. Hope I did justice to all the glory of UBC Aqua Soc. Take a look!
